Over the past couple of months, i have noticed at least four, otherwise totally sane people, talking to themselves. And it is not talking to themselves, as in, thinking aloud. For instance there was this old lady, who is walking along a road to a convenience store, all along muttering to her self, “one can of soda”, ” one can of soda”, “one can of soda”. I happened to go to the convenience store first, and i see her enter muttering the same sentence. She picks up her can of soda and stops saying the sentence.

The other instances were similar but the thoughts were quite personal.

That being the case, this is not the place for them.

When perfectly normal people suddenly externalize an intensely personal thought trail, it is unnerving. It felt like a placid lake suddenly throwing up a whirlpool.

I wonder what demons were they fighting.

Techno-Sociology

Check out this opinion piece on nytimes.

Author makes the point that, being too dependent on technology makes, humans dumber. Though i love technology as much as the next person, i think David Brooks has an arguement.

This being a topic covering a wide gamut of teaching ranging from sociology, economics, technology and philosophy my take will be a separate post.
