Do you remember that old point about “inflection points” from “Only the paranoid survive”?
We had that great looking chart of various IT companies IBM, DEC etc. which had the entire stack of technology all by themselves. The hardware (often right from the chip), and the sofware. Then that model went bust with Microsoft dominating the [...]

House passes the granduosly named American recovery and reinvestment plan, and, it is irrelevant at this point. For this plan is not far sighted enough nor does it change the game in any way. But don’t blame the president for this, for he was just working with in the boundaries of consitution. Fact is this [...]
Microsoft’s offer for Yahoo is a loose – loose deal for both

The raison d’être for Microsoft’s offer to yahoo share holders is that, together, Microsoft and Yahoo will be able to make an impact on Google’s dominance in the internet advertisement market. Other elements supporting this takeover are, together, Microsoft and Yahoo will be able to stand up to the power of Google in search Engine [...]

This news story from infoworld talks about a technology startup working on a dollar a watt solar panels. Interestingly google founders back this company according to articles on CNET and nytimes.
At this price, solar power is supposedly cheaper than coal.
Points to ponder:
1. Does this pricing scheme include power delivery systems also?
2. What are the variables [...]

Here is the article i referred to in the title. I notice a sense of “Inevitability” to this and similar articles / blogentries / comments etc. IMPO (In my personal opinion), this is that old standby of journalism and opinion making, smooth out the edges – conclude the article (SOTECTA in short). For [...]

This is a nytimes story about google – microsoft powwow and this one is about google Knol, which i do not think is such a good idea after all. Wikipedia is a great thought, brilliantly executed and reaching a point where it becomes a de-facto standard. A new concept even one promoted by google will [...]

Have you noticed the number of electronic devices you have? Digital music player (One, or more depending on how many iPod’s you bought!), a digital camera, a mobile phone, USB based data storage device (again multiple depending on how many you bought along with your various other purchases) are the minimum you will find cluttered around. And [...]

Amazon is debuting a new e-book display device branded kindle on Monday. (Though there are lot of web links on this, the one on Newsweek is in-depth.) e-book readers are available for a long time now, both as software or as a hardware, Sony’s device being the latest to have some traction. Not too many [...]

Slate is running an article titled death of e-mail. This is a rambling piece of disorganized thought that deserved a place in the rejected bin. While the initial paragraphs describe the premise as imminent, later the author takes a complete U-turn to reject it. Even after i re-read it, (which i did solely for the [...]
